Early this evening at the intersection of 60th Street and Broadway in Manhattan, a carriage horse collapsed in the street. This is the second collapse in just 2 weeks. Attached here are short video clips of the carriage horse lying in the street.
“We fervently urge the City Council to pass Intro 86A,” stated Executive Director of New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets Carly Knudson, “In case you needed another example for why we believe New York City streets and traffic are not fit for horses, just look at these unsettling videos.”
It is time for New York to put a stop to the inhumane treatment of horses within this industry. New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets urges all residents to support Intro 86A, legislation to phase out the horse in the carriage horse industry, in order to adopt a new animal and environment friendly 'horseless carriage'.
