NYCLASS endorses Bill de Blasio

Live on television last Tuesday night, both candidates for NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio and Joe Lhota, pledged to end the inhumane horse carriage industry. For the first time in American history, animal protection is playing a huge role in a major election. This is a momentous milestone for the humane voter movement.

But there's only one horse in the race who wins our official hoof print of approval. NYCLASS is proud to endorse animal hero Bill de Blasio for New York City Mayor!

Bill de Blasio is the animal advocacy movement's candidate. He's vowed to reform our city's animal shelter system, build animal shelters in the Bronx and Queens, require fire sprinklers in pet stores, protect a tenants' right to have a pet and stop the abusive puppy mill industry.

And last Tuesday night, de Blasio stood up to the Teamsters and the carriage horse industry by stating
"I said very clearly we are ending horse carriages in NYC. Yes, I received support from a union that feels the other way, but that doesn't change my opinion one bit, and I've made that clear to that union, so I'm moving forward on this plan."

He’s one of us – and as Mayor, he’ll deliver for all New Yorkers, two legged and four legged. Will you pledge to vote for Bill de Blasio November 5th?

We made history once by defeating animal-foe Christine Quinn. It was a long-shot campaign, but we put our hooves to the ground and defeated a well-funded, establishment front-runner.

But the work didn’t end there – we need the right person leading this city with paws forward on humane issues. Now, let's make history again by electing the first ever humane Mayor, Bill de Blasio!
