The New York Blood Center used chimpanzees for experimental research for years and when these chimps were no longer needed they were released onto islands in Africa. There, caretakers could provide food and water. NYBC agreed to provide this essential care - without it the chimps would die - but abandoned them when it was no longer convenient.
MetLife has an obligation to use their influence as one of NYBC's largest donors to demand that NYBC resume care of the chimpanzees.
