Several times a year, kids living in some tough circumstances get a chance to take a break from it all.
They head several hours north of the city to the great outdoors to play with horses, and for the horses, it's a treat as well.
The kids are residents of the Henry Street Settlement Shelter in lower Manhattan.
As for the horses, they would have been sent to slaughter, had Susan Wagner not intervened and brought them to Equine Advocates.
