"We're pleased that Ringling Brothers recognizes that consumers have wised up to the animal cruelty happening under the big top. However, a three-year phase out means three years of continued torture. If Ringling is serious about ending abuse, they will send the elephants to a sanctuary now.
Ending the use of elephants in the circus is a step in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go in ending the abusive treatment of all circus animals in New York City. Behind what may seem like a fun circus show is an animal that's being exploited for financial gain."
