MEDIA ADVISORY: Senator Avella Joins Animal Rights Advocates to Rally In Support of "Cecil's Law" to Stop Trophy Hunting

Bill Would Prohibit Possession, Importation, Sale and Transportation of Hunting Trophies

On Tuesday, August 11th, at 11 A.M., State Senator Tony Avella, Friends of Animals, Long Island Orchestrating For Nature and NYCLASS will rally on the steps of City Hall in support of “Cecil’s Law”.

If enacted, the bill would be the first law of its kind to implement a statewide ban on the importation, possession, sale or transportation of the remains of elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos, all of which face extinction due to illegal poaching and sport hunting. As New York State is a major hub when it comes to the international transportation of big game trophies, the passage of “Cecil’s Law” would be a significant step towards curtailing this horrific practice.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 11th at 11AM

WHERE: Steps of City Hall
