Late Friday night, we SCORED A HUGE VICTORY for dogs in New York when the State Senate passed S.3753, the bill that gives local governments the authority to crack down on puppy mills. As soon as Governor Cuomo raises his paw and signs the bill into law, local municipalities will have the power to boot these abusive pet dealers out of town.

We just got word from our awesome Albany lobbyists working to push the puppy mill-busting bill to a vote in the NY Senate. Things are going well, and we are within striking distance. But we need your help getting one puppy mill holdout, Senator Cecelia Tkaczyk, to come to our side.

Everyday, thousands of dogs are bred in cruel and unsanitary conditions in puppy mills. Abused and neglected, these poor animals are forced to live in tiny wire-floored cages that are stacked on top of each others. What’s worse? New York state law doesn’t let local governments regulate puppy mills! That makes life even worse for these poor animals.
