Bill de Blasio will attend fund-raiser for NYCLASS, animal rights group that sunk Quinn

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio, who has kept a low profile since Election Day, is venturing out to support the animal rights group that tormented Christine Quinn during the campaign.

De Blasio will be the keynote speaker at a Dec. 4 fund-raiser for the group, NYCLASS. Tickets go for as much as $1,000.

The group bankrolled the super PAC “New York City Is Not For Sale,” spending more than $220,000 to fight Quinn, who they opposed because she wouldn’t back a ban on carriage horses.

De Blasio strongly denied coordinating with the group. He promised early in the mayoral campaign to end the horse-carriage trade “within the first week of the job.”
