Recently, a New York City carriage horse named Oreo went running scared through the streets of Manhattan after colliding with a car. The incident, the latest of many, has prompted more calls from organizations like NYCLASS and PETA for a citywide ban of the carriages.

A list of celebs have gotten onboard with the cause including Lea Michele, Pamela Anderson, Anjelica Huston, Kristen Chenoweth and Chelsea Handler. Now, Adrien Brody has joined them. The actor recently wrote a letter to New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn on behalf of PETA.

According to Hollywood.com, Brody was upset after hearing about Oreo’s accident, which resulted in injuries for Oreo as well as the carriage passengers and driver. Brody writes “A horse and carriage belong on a deserted country road or in a small village, not in a big city filled with blaring noise, throngs of people, air pollution and fleets of taxis – where accidents are inevitable.”

NYCLASS sent out a call to action after Oreo’s incident, asking the public to contact the city council. Their petition calling for a ban of New York City’s horse carriages has been signed by over 93,000 people.
