BREAKING NEWS: Donovan up by 26 votes!
With such razor thin margins, it’s clear that what we’ve done as an organization might put Donovan over the edge. Our plan is working and we can’t do it without you. THANK YOU! We have just 73 more members to go to reach our goal by next Thursday.
We have a special shout out to the NYCLASS members who hit the pavement for Get Out The Vote efforts in the past few days, like the following volunteers:
• 77-year-old volunteer Diane, who insisted on standing on her feet in the pouring rain for 3 hours to hand out literature.
• Jessica knocked on doors until her feet buckled.
• Roxanne knocked on doors until it got so dark and rainy that she couldn't read the walk sheets anymore.
• Allison from the Bronx took two days off from work to shuttle volunteers around Queens.
THANK YOU!
This election was a huge milestone for us -- never before have a bunch of "cat ladies" campaigned for a candidate in Southeast Queens, or, for that matter, anywhere in NYC! None of our volunteers quite understood how campaigning would make a difference for the horses and animal welfare in New York City until they hit the trail themselves and saw how making calls and knocking on doors really does work to get out the vote. And it DID work. Donovan is in the lead in a very close election.
This is what 2013 is all about for NYCLASS. Thanks for being a part of it – tell your friends how to become members and lend financial support to activities like this and our grassroots movement.
Stay tuned for election results, and thanks for being a Horse Hero!
