FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY – New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets (NYCLASS) will hold a Horseless Carriage Cocktail Party on May 3rd to raise money for the 21st Century "horseless carriage," an electric vintage-replica car that would eventually replace the horse-drawn carriage industry in New York City.

Kathy Najimy will be an honorary co-host for the fund-raiser, which will be held at Tribeca 360 in downtown Manhattan from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Najimy, along with other prominent stars like Lea Michele, Kristin Chenoweth, and Anjelica Huston, has been a vocal proponents of NYCLASS's efforts to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York City.

Najimy recently appeared on Chelsea Handler's show, Chelsea Lately, where the two condemned the carriage horse industry in New York. Najimy said of the horses, "Come on, let them run free and party in the meadows!" Handler said, "It's awful. You can't go on these carriage rides. ... These horses can't do it!" A video clip can be found here.

"We couldn't be more excited about the upcoming cocktail party with this incredible host committee and our honorary co-chairs, Kathy Najimy and Chelsea Handler," said Carly Marie Knudson, executive director of NYCLASS. "The event will give us an opportunity to connect our amazing supporters who share a common purpose – to end the abusive carriage horse industry in New York and replace it with an eco-friendly, animal-friendly and job-producing tourism attraction."

The party will include vegan hors d'oeuvres, drinks and dancing. It will also feature a silent auction with photography by Caitlin Mitchell, VIP tickets to a taping of Chelsea Lately and Ellen, sports tickets and artwork.
